Court detains well-known DJ, Commissioner Wysei, for purportedly assaulting police officers

 


A Lagos State court on Thursday ordered the detention of Commissioner Wysei, a popular DJ, over accusations of assaulting Nigerian Police officers.


Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state command, conveyed this via a tweet on X.


He stated, "Iwuagwu Ebere, aged 29, widely recognized as Commissioner DJ Wysei, has been remanded by the court in Kirikiri correctional facility until May 8, 2024. This is due to charges of assaulting police officers, resisting arrest, and obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties. Additionally, her bouncers, who reportedly assisted and abetted her, have been remanded in Ikoyi correctional facility."


Earlier, SaharaReporters had reported on Benjamin Hundeyin retracting his statement confirming the arrest of Obianuju Catherine Udeh, professionally known as DJ Switch. Reports had circulated on social media platforms claiming DJ Switch's arrest in Lagos and imminent arraignment for allegedly obstructing the station's entrance and assaulting a female officer.
