How did the Super Eagles perform in Sunday's friendly in Singapore?

    #1 Francis Uzoho: 7/10

    The Cyprus-based goalkeeper had a fine game in goal for the Super Eagles, and successfully kept Brazil at bay when the Selecao ramped up the pressure in the second half. Flapped a little at the cross that ultimately led to his injury, but on the evidence of his last two games, he is definitely getting better.

    #2 Chidozie Awaziem: 6/10

    Awaziem reprised his Africa Cup of Nations role at right-back, and started rather poorly. Grew into the game and his performance improved as the half, and then the game, wore on. Nullified Everton, and also largely kept Richarlison quiet when the Everton man came on, making a crucial block inside his own six-yard box.

    #3 William Troost-Ekong: 6/10

    Very strong performance from the Udinese man. Overcame concerns he would struggle with Roberto Firmino’s movement by largely focusing on holding his position, and marshalled the backline with authority. His performance in the second half was a little less assertive, especially under a hail of set-plays, but on the whole he emerged with credit.

  5. #4 Semi Ajayi: 5.5/10

    Solid performance from the West Brom man. Gave the ball away on a few sorties forward, and rightly got his ear chewed off. However, when he kept it simple and focused on his defensive fundamentals, he was strong in the tackle and largely attentive in position (except on one occasion in particular). His partnership with Ekong looks a promising one.

    #5 Jamilu Collins: 3/10

    Had the opposite performance to Awaziem: he started strongly, but his performance quickly devolved into a morass of errors. Struggled positionally, was beaten much too easily in one-on-one situations, and arguably should have been booked for an ugly bit of wrestling in the first half. Gabriel Jesus very much had the measure of him.

    #6 Wilfred Ndidi: 5/10

    The Super Eagles Mr Consistent. A couple of loose touches aside, Ndidi was dependable in possession. Struggled a little when he had to step up and shut down Brazil’s deepest midfielder, as he left a lot of space behind and did not always arrive in time, but he mopped up pretty well, even though he did not look 100 per cent.

    #7 Alex Iwobi: 4.5/10

    Good timing on his passes, but he struggled to impose himself on the game in the way he did against Ukraine. Found it a lot harder to connect with Osimhen upfront, as the midfield was far too deep and flat, and little that he tried actually came off. Was out on his feet by the hour mark.

    #8 Joe Aribo: 7/10

    Two goals in two games for the Rangers midfielder, who has found himself in the green and white. His late running into the box will fetch him many goals. Only really started to play well after his goal, but he was immense in the second half, carrying the ball up the pitch with intent and dancing feet. A worthy recipient of the no.10 shirt.

    #9 Moses Simon: 5/10

    His two touches to lay the ball off to the onrushing Aribo were his best of the game. Conscientious and willing defensively, but did not carry enough of a threat in attack, and lacked assertiveness in moments. That said, ran himself ragged as he always does, but did nothing to show he should be starting when everyone is available.

    #10 Samuel Chukwueze: 6/10

    Carried a consistent threat, and had Renan Lodi on skates, especially in the first half. His decision-making looks to be improving, and some of his in-swinging deliveries caused Brazil worries – on one occasion, Marquinhos almost turned the ball into his own goal. Did his fair share defensively too, and looked to have a good understanding with Awaziem.

    #11 Victor Osimhen: 6.5/10

    The Lille forward had little to work with upfront, but put himself about anyway, as is typical for him. His bustle upfront saw him test Ederson twice, on the ground and in the air. His whipped cross essentially made Nigeria’s goal. It takes something special to trouble both Marquinhos and Thiago Silva; Osimhen is special.

    Came and dealt with two crosses quite well after replacing Uzoho, but was not properly tested in his time on the pitch.
